Swapna Suresh granted bail in defamation case filed by CPM state secretary MV Govindan
Swapna Suresh, who had repeatedly failed to appear in court despite multiple summons, presented herself on the day following a warrant.
The prime accused in the gold smuggling case alleged that CPI-M Kerala secretary MV Govindan, through an intermediary, offered her Rs 30 crore to withdraw the allegations against Kerala chief minister and his family.

Swapna, in a Facebook Live on Thursday, alleged that one person named Vijay Pillai, an intermediary of CPI-M Kerala secretary MV Govindan, met her in Bengaluru claiming that MV Govindan had told her that the chief minister had promised to pay 30 crore to start a new life in another country and that she should leave the country. She also said Vijay Pillai, a native of Kannur, also threatened her that her life would be in danger, if she does not accept the Rs.30 crore offer
Swapna said she was summoned to Bengaluru by Vijay Pillai on the pretext of an interview, but it was basically a settlement talk.

She claimed that the intermediary was acting on behalf of CPI-M Kerala secretary MV Govindan. The intermediary asked her to go to Haryana or Jaipur and they would give all assistance for this , including a flat, she said.
She also said that the intermediary also asked her to hand over all the details in her possession about the chief minister, his wife, his son, his daughter and his additional private secretary C M Raveendran. He also asked her to tell that that everything she said was a lie before leaving the country.
“If I refuse, they told me that they would end my life. It was a clear case of a death threat,” Swapna said in the Facebook Live.
“Three days ago, a person called Vijay Pillai called me for an interview. I reached the hotel he mentioned with my children. But it was a settlement talk. He asked me to go to Haryana or Jaipur and that he will arrange a flat there. He said all the evidence against the chief minister, his wife Kamala and daughter Veena in my possession should be handed over. He said if she did not intend to leave Bengaluru, then there would be no truce and I would be killed. He said I should stop speaking against the Chief Minister,Kamala , Veena and Yusuf Ali and tell the people that everything I said was a lie before leaving. He also promised to pay 30 crores to me for this,” Swapna said over the Facebook live.
Swapna has also claimed that the intermediary, Vijay Pillai, threatened her not to drag a noted industrialist into the case. “I’m a domestic flyer due to my health issues. They know this. Vijay Pillai said the industrialist could sneak in contrabands or drugs into my baggage to trap me,” she said
Swapna further said she has filed a complaint with the Karnataka Home Minister, the DGP, and the Enforcement Directorate. “I need protection in Bangaluru because I’m not willing to compromise. I will not withdraw unless and until I see the end of it.”
She also released pictures of the controversial meeting.
“This is not just a fight for me. This is a fight of the entire state against. I have just one father, I will fight till the end,” she said.
