A column of Indian Army was attacked by unidentified insurgents of NSCN(K) group along the Myanmar border on Wednesday. The Army retaliated and caused heavy damage to the insurgent group, leaving many insurgents dead.
However, there is no confirmation on the exact number of casualties.
The Army suffered no casualties, sources confirmed.
The Indian Army issued a detailed statement in which they ‘reiterated’ that the forces did not cross the border during the retaliation.
‘Heavy’ casualties have been inflicted on NSCN(K) cadre.
In 2015, the NSCN(K) had attacked a convoy of 6 Dogra regiment, in which 18 soldiers were killed. In June, India conducted surgical strikes against insurgent camps along the Indo-Myanmar international border, and inflicted significant casualties on the outfit.
The NSCN(K) has been designated a terrorist outfit in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
