At a time when allegations have been made from some quarters that the Muslims are  facing discrimination in the country, Kanthapuram AP faction Sunni Muslim Federation leader Abdul Qadir Musaliyar said the religious freedom enjoyed by Muslims in India cannot be experienced in any Muslim country, including Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the Sunni Students Federation (SSF) conference in Kozhikode on Saturday, Abdul Qadir Musaliyar said there was no Arab country where Muslims can carry out organisational activities like in India.

“There is no hindrance for our organisation’s activities at all levels in the country. But that is not the case in countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Bahrain,” said Abdul Qadir Musaliyar. He said there are restrictions on religious activities even in Gulf countries.

Inaugurating the SSF conference, Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar said the Sunni ideals are against extremism and that for the progress and development of the country, secularism should be protected.

“Terrorism and extremism are not the solution to anything. Instead of such subversive activities, the country demands educational revolution from students,” he said.

Responding to the Sunni leaders statement that religious freedom enjoyed by Muslims in India cannot be experienced in any Muslim country, the Muslim league Kerala  president Sadikkali Shihab Thangal said  it is on the strength of the constitution  that Muslims are enjoying religious  freedom and  not facing challenges in the country.
