Earlier on Friday, the state government had informed the High Court that it had no objection to deploying central forces at the site of the Vizhinjam port.
Tharoor said that he had no clue about the controversies related to his programmes in the state.
Speaking to media persons in Kottayam, Tharoor said that he has not violated any party guidelines by accepting the invitation to participate in a youth Congress function.
Stating that attending an event hosted by the Youth Congress would not go against the party rules, Tharoor asked: “How can I decline an invitation on the part of the Youth Congress?”
Responding to Kottayam District Congress Committee president Nattakam Suresh’s allegation that the party was kept in the dark about Tharoor’s Youth Congress programme at Erattupetta, he said: “In the past 14 years, I never attended any programme without informing the District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents. It is also a part of politics. My office used to inform my programmes to the concerned party official without any failure.”
Earlier on Saturday, speaking to reporters at Thiruvananthapuram airport, Tharoor said that his office had called up the DCC president about his programmes in Kottayam and shared the details of the programme with him.
Responding to senior Congress leader Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan’s remark that he will not be attending the Erattupetta programme, Tharoor said: “Those leaders who are not interested in attending the programme need not come. They can always watch the programme live on YouTube.”
