Tens of hundreds of devotees who have been waiting for hours to have a glimpse of Ram Lalla on Tuesday broke through the security cordon at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya.

The temple was opened for general public today after the grand consecration ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday.

Devotees from across the country started queuing up outside the temple gates from as early as 3 am in the morning.

A video shared by news agency ANI showed devotees breaking through the security cordon of police, creating a stampede-like situation. No one was reported injured.

The mad rush prompted authorities to deploy more police personnel. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also rushed Ayodhya to take stock of the situation.

The chief minister reached the temple and assure devotees that all of them will be allowed to have darshan of Ram Lalla.

Meanwhile, vehicles reaching Ayodhya were reportedly stopped to control the crowd. All government buses going to Ayodhya have also been diverted.

According to UP police, nearly three lakh devotees had darshan of Ram Lalla till 3 pm today and the same number of devotees were standing in the queues.

“All arrangements are under control. More than 8,000 security personnel have been deployed in the temple to control the crowd,” he added.

The gigantic Ram temple was opened on Monday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The mega ‘pran-pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram temple was attended by thousands of VVIPs including Bollywood celebrities, cricketers and business tycoons.
