Amid the ongoing Indo-Pak tension, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, will visit India on Monday for talks with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

The trip comes days after his visit to Islamabad where he met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and delivered a “special message” from Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

Saudi Arabia is said to be extremely concerned over the developments in the Indian sub-continent in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack. The kingdom had strongly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism.

Considered a strong friend of Pakistan in the Islamic world, Saudi Arabia is said to have played a key role in easing tension between India and Pakistan and securing the release of Indian pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan, from the custody of the Pakistan Army.

Jubeir’s visit comes after the Crown Prince’s stand-alone visits to India and Pakistan soon after the Pulwama terror attack.
