Shashi Tharoor denies defamation charge by Rajeev Chandrashekhar
The Congress Working Committee member denied making false allegations against the BJP leader and demanded the withdrawal of statements and an apology.
Some Congress leaders did not like Tharoor’s presence at Mannam Jayanti event, said G Sukumaran, General Secretary, NSS.
G Sukumaran Nair, General Secretary of the Nair Service Society (NSS), has said Congress Thiruvananthapuram MP Sashi Tharoor is capable of becoming the Prime Minister of India.
In an interview to English daily The New Indian Express, G Sukumaran Nair, General Secretary, NSS, which played a major role in Kerala’s socio-political history, said that Sashi Tharoor has the potential to even become the Prime Minister of India but what can be done if those with him do not agree.
“Tharoor is capable of even becoming the Prime Minister of the country. But his colleagues will not let it happen,” said Sukumaran.

“Some Congress leaders did not like Tharoor’s presence at Mannam Jayanti event. It has been heard since the time of Mannam that one Nair cannot recognize another Nair,” said Sukumaran Nair.

Speaking on the UDF defeat in the 2021 polls, Sukumaran Nair said: “They lost because Ramesh Chennithala was projected as the CM. It would have won had it stuck to Oommen Chandy.”
As regards to a recent controversy that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did not get up when Guru Vandanam was recited at a function in Kannur, Sukumaran Nair said: “That was because he knows all Ezhavas are CPI-M sympathizers … The same person celebrated Christmas at his place. That is because he wants to win over that community now.”
