RML Hospital maintains full services amid resident doctors’ strike

Despite the ongoing resident doctors’ strike, Dr Ajay Shukla, Director & Medical Superintendent of Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, stated that all hospital services were functioning smoothly without any disruptions.

Shukla, along with the hospital administration team and additional Medical Superintendent, conducted rounds of the Outpatient Departments (OPDs) and Operating Theatres (OTs) to assess the situation firsthand. He confirmed that emergency services are operating as usual, with no delays or interruptions reported.

“In the OPD, nearly 5700 patients were registered this morning, and both junior and senior faculty members were actively attending to all the OPDs,” Shukla stated. “Our emergency and elective OTs are fully functional, and patients in the wards are receiving proper care. There is no significant impact on the services due to the strike.”

He emphasized that the hospital’s administration has taken steps to ensure the smooth continuation of services by having the junior and senior faculty work together to manage the patient load effectively. This collaboration aims to prevent any backlog of cases and maintain the hospital’s operational efficiency.

In a related development, a meeting was chaired by the secretary at 9 am on Monday, where office bearers from the concerned departments were present. The Secretary listened to the demands of the striking resident doctors and discussed potential solutions, though specific details of the meeting were not disclosed.

Ten government hospitals in Delhi on Monday went on an indefinite strike, halting all elective services, in response to the recent rape and murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata.
