Retaliation goes without saying: Army on death of 4 soldiers in Pak shelling

In a tragic news that came from the Jammu and Kashmir, an An Army captain and three other soldiers were killed in Pakistan shelling in the Poonch and BG sectors on Sunday.

A soldier and two children, a boy and a girl, were also seriously injured as Pakistan troops also targeted the villages along the LOC.

According to media reports, after the attack, the Army has said that the “action will speak for itself”.

“That (retaliation) goes without saying, I think I don’t have to say that. Action will speak for itself,” said Sarath Chand, Vice Chief of Army Staff, according to news agency ANI.

The Army personnel who have been killed were identified as Capt Kapil Kundu, Rifleman Ram Avtar, Rifleman Shubam Singh and Havaldar Roshan Lal.

Captain Kapil Kundu, who would have celebrated his 23rd birthday on February 10, hailed from Haryana’s Gurugram, he is survived by his mother Sunita.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the cross-border firing by Pakistan and said that he has full faith in the valour of the Indian Army and they shall “give proper reply” to the neighbour.

“Have full faith in the valour of our soldiers, and they shall give proper reply,” Rajnath Singh told reporters.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also talked about the incident and paid tribute to the martyred soldier. She tweeted , “Captain Kapil Kundu, Rifleman Ramavatar, Rifleman Subham Singh & Havaldar Roshan Lal martyred in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in BG sector of Rajouri. Your sacrifice for the Nation will not go down in vain. Heartfelt condolences to NoK”.
