Mohan Bhagwat, RSS chief, unfurled the tricolour at the Vyasa Vidya Peethom School in Kerala’s Palakkad on the occasion of Republic Day.
Bhagwat, who is in Palakkad as part of a three day camp of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, hosted the flag at 9 am.
According to media reports, the state government had issued a circular on January 17 underlining how to celebrate Republic Day. It was mentioned in the circular that in all public offices, schools and colleges national flag should be hoisted by the head of departments.
The CMO, later, clarified that this is applicable only for schools coming under the Directorate of Public Instruction.
The Vyasa Vidya Peethom School is a private management school affiliated to the CBSE.
“The sarsanghchalakji (RSS chief) always hoists the national flag on Independence Day and Republic Day wherever he is on these days. Since on January 26 he will be in Kerala, he will hoist the flag there. It should only be seen in this light,” a senior Sangh functionary had earlier said.
