The Director General of Police in Rajasthan Umesh Mishra released a brochure of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) covering its seven years in public service and awareness during emergencies of flood, fire, building collapse, children stuck in borewell, chemical/gas leakage, and other natural calamities.
After presenting the colourful brochure, SDRF Commandant (IPS) Raj Kumar Gupta told SNS here that altogether 3,900 people were rescued alive in over 300 operations in Rajasthan during 2022.
Three children who were stuck in borewells last year were saved with the help of other agencies, and 192 bodies were retrieved from various water bodies during floods and other calamities, Gupta claimed.
Besides human beings, the SDRF team also rescued about 69 cattle from the disastrous situation in the state in the stipulated year, he who briefed the DGP about SDRF’s achievements said.
With 650 jawans of SDRF battalion, the state sponsored SDRF was always ready to go along with the NDRF team on all emergencies.
Over 4700 ‘Aapda Mitra’ (disaster friend) were being imparted training in the rescue operation in 13 districts of the state, he said.
