Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, on Saturday, announced an enhanced honorarium of contractual workers of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) by 5 per cent with a retrospective effect from November 1, 2022. This will put an additional financial burden of Rs 4.10 crore on the state government’s exchequer.
It is noteworthy that in the budget of the year 2022-23, Gehlot had announced an increase in the honorarium of these employees, whose honorarium does not have a provision to increase every year.
