The one-day Uttarakhand tour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was affected by bad weather on Thursday. First the PM had to wait for over four hours at the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun, and later he got stuck at Ramnagar and failed to attend the public rally at Rudrapur. Narendra Modi addressed the public over phone. But this time the poor connectivity created hurdle and the speech was discontinued after a brief period.
Despite rain and bad weather, big crowd had gathered at the Rudrapur to hear Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was to launch the state’s Integrated Cooperative Development Project and distribute loan cheques among select beneficiaries of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Farmers Welfare Scheme.

Narendra Modi reached Dehradun on a special Indian Air Force aircraft at 7 am. The PM had to wait for four hours at the airport and could leave for Ramnagar in an Mi-17 helicopter only after 11 am. Modi was to visit the Corbett Tiger Reserve. Even that programme was cut short, due to the delay and weather. Modi enjoyed boating on Ramganga, and addressed the public over phone from Khinanauli guest house.
The Integrated Cooperative Development Project aims to drastically improve the rural economy in Uttarakhand by giving a boost to the cooperative, farm and allied sectors. It will help in checking forced migration from the hills of Uttarakhand by providing adequate support to those involved agricultural and allied activities.
The Prime Minister was to distribute loan cheques to selected beneficiaries of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Farmers Welfare Scheme. Under this scheme of the Uttarakhand government, multi-purpose loans of up to Rs 1 lakh will be made available to the farmers at a very low interest rate of 2 per cent.
The PM visited Uttarakhand on November 7, 2018 to celebrate Diwali with jawans of the Indian Army and ITBP at Harsil and also on October 7, 2018, to address the ‘Destination Uttarakhand: Investors’ Summit 2018’, in Dehradun.
