Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be in Amethi on Wednesday on a two-day tour of his parliamentary constituency. Gandhi said he would meet and discuss issues with people at “home”.
“I am coming to Amethi. Will be with my people and discuss issues with them. Will keep sharing the details of my story of happiness with you through photographs,” Gandhi had posted on Facebook in Hindi earlier in the day.
At the Lucknow airport, on his way to Amethi, the Congress president was received by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Raj Babbar and party workers.
Gandhi is scheduled to meet representatives of gram panchayats at Fursatganj, according to his representative Chandrakant Dubey. He would also take part in the swearing-in of newly elected bar members in Gauriganj, Dubey had earlier said.
Gandhi would address a ‘nukkad sabha’ at Haliyapur and stay at Bhueymau guest house where he would also meet party workers on Thursday, before starting back for Delhi.
The Congress chief is also scheduled to tour Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the states his party wrested from the BJP in the recent elections.
Gandhi was to visit Amethi on 4 January, the same day Union Minister Smriti Irani was visiting the constituency. However, his trip was was cancelled in view of the Winter Session of Parliament.
