EC gives BJP, Cong one week’s time to respond to poll code violations
The poll panel on Saturday wrote to BJP president J P Nadda and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge seeking their comments over the matter by 1 pm on Monday.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi met French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday and said they discussed issues common to both democracies, including fake news, and looked forward to collaborating with him on Climate Change.
“Yesterday, I met Macron. We discussed a range of issues common to our liberal democracies, including fake news. I look forward to building on this meeting and to collaborating with him on global challenges such as Climate Change,” Gandhi tweeted attaching a picture with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Macron.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Macron took a boat ride on the river Ganga in Varanasi. The short river trip started from Assi Ghat and ended at the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat of this eastern city in Uttar Pradesh.
The two leaders were seen boarding a two-deck boat which was especially decorated for the visit.
Before the trip, Macron and PM Modi visited Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hastkala Sankul at Bada Lalpur in the city.
Prime Minister Modi and the French President inaugurated a 100 MW Solar Power Plant on the Vindhya mountain region in Dadar Kala village at Mirzapur.
Both PM Modi and Macron unveiled the inaugural plaque in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Anupriya Patel, and French First Lady Brigitte Macron, besides others.
