RAF Silver jubilee: Rajnath Singh announces five more batallions

Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced 5 more batallions of Rapid Action Force (RAF) in the country on the occassion of the Silver Jubilee of the formation of this force. At present 10 batallions of the force are operational across the country.

Sixteen people comprising officials and widows of the martyrs were honoured on the occasion. A commemorative postal stamp on the force was also released on the occasion.

Singh thanked the telecommunication ministry for releasing the stamp on the RAF on its Silver Jubilee. “This would prove out to be a milestone in the history of the RAF,” said the Home Minister, terming the RAF personnel, “pride of the nation”.

“RAF has delivered during the flood control, law and order, riots  etc. Your work is full of challenges and you have accomplished this with great success,” he said.

Singh arrived here on Saturday morning to attend the Silver Jubilee function of the force which became operational in October 1992.

Appreciating the work of RAF and also its women battalion, the home minister said that it was a matter of great happiness that they were working as an advanced force. “The RAF has worked with patience, self control , presence of mind.” He also advised the officers to look for options to avoid use of physical force.

“A new India has to be build by 2022 for which all of us should pledge , ” said the Home minister.

As of now, there are 10 batallions of RAF across the country of which one is in Vedvyaspuri of Meerut. There is also an RAF Academy of Public Order here.
