After maintaining a stoic silence over the dastardly terrorist attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama on February 14, the Congress party on Thursday came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, questioning the intelligence failure that led to the deadliest terrorist attack on the armed forces in decades.
“Is our Intelligence so weak under Ajit Doval that terrorists were able to carry 350 kg of explosives through the most protected highway in the country?” Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress spokesperson said at a media briefing in New Delhi.
“How did the terrorists know the exact route of the CRPF jawans? Was there an intelligence breach? If so why has no action been taken against those responsible in the intelligence agencies?” he asked.
Surjewala also asked why the government did not take cognizance of the video released by the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group barely 48 hours ahead of the attack. He also questioned the Home Ministry over the alleged refusal to airlift CRPF men as was requested by the force according to reports.
“CRPF troopers were stuck in the region for a week due to bad weather. Airlifting them from the region would have saved their lives,” he added.
