Tension prevailed outside the theatres in Kerala during the screening of the controversial ‘The Kerala Story’ on Friday.

Activists of the Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC), a youth wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Fraternity Movement, the youth wing of Welfare Party backed by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, staged a protest outside Shenoys theatre in Kochi against the screening of the controversial film

They alleged that the movie fuelled the divisive propaganda of the Sangh Parivar.

The police stopped them from entering the theatre and later removed them from the site. The police provided security to the Aries Plex theatre in Thiruvananthapuram in the wake of the protests against the movie.

Earlier, the PVR Cinemas had cancelled their show at the last minute and refunded the money to those who had brought the tickets online.

In the morning, BJP arranged a special screening of the movie at Aries Plus Theatre in the state capital.

The film was screened at the Crown theatre in Kozhikode amid protests outside. SDPI and DYFI workers staged protests before the theatre, where the controversial movie was screened.
