The ASP said that Assistant professor Gaurav Sharma was the invigilator during an exam in a private university on Tuesday. During the exam, few students attempted to copy to which he objected and did not allow them to cheat.
Out of frustration and anger for the professor, these students decided to teach him a lesson. After the examination, when he was returning home, the students followed him and attacked him at an isolated place with a baseball bat and wooden staffs.
The shocked professor then lodged a complaint with the police against unidentified persons who had attacked him and later the police found CCTV footage of the incident on the basis of which attackers were identified and arrested.
The ASP said that during the investigation, the accused admitted that they wanted to teach the professor a lesson for stopping them from cheating in the exam.
