iPhone price drop: In a bid to consolidate its position in the premium smartphone market in India, Apple has slashed the price of its flagship smartphone iPhone XR in India by 22 per cent for a limited period that will be applicable from April 5.
The base model of Apple iPhone XR (64GB) is now available at Rs 59,900, the company said on Thursday.

“This is not a price drop or change on MRP but a limited term promotional offer which starts Friday,” it added.
The 128GB iPhone XR (original price Rs 81,900) will cost Rs 64,900 and the Rs 91,900 256GB variant will cost Rs 74,900.
However, for HDFC Bank customers, Apple is offering a 10 per cent cashback after which the price of the 64 GB model will be Rs 53,900. The 128GB iPhone XR will cost Rs 58,400 and the 256GB variant will cost Rs 67,400.
According to reports, Apple will not change the MRP of iPhone XR but it will adopt the market operating price (MOP) strategy in India, where consumer selling prices are kept lower than MRP. Samsung and Xiaomi also follow this strategy.
With all-screen glass and an aluminium design featuring a 6.1-inch display which is touted as “the most advanced LCD in a smartphone,” the smartphone houses A12 Bionic chip with next-generation “Neural Engine”, which unlocks new experiences for immersive augmented reality (AR), games and photography.
The device has a 12MP rear camera and a 7MP front camera.
The iPhone XR is water resistant, with a rating of IP67, and protects against everyday spills including coffee, tea and soda.
The iPhone XR was launched in the second half of 2018 for a starting price of Rs 76,900.
