Prakash Ambedkar says won’t attend MVA’s Baramati rally

Ambedkar highlighted lack of coordination among MVA partners Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SCP) and the Congress as reason behind the delay in seat sharing.

Prakash Ambedkar says won’t attend MVA’s Baramati rally

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) will not attend the Baramati rally of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) as seat sharing talks with Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP(SCP) and the Congress could be not finalised, its chief Prakash Ambedkar said on Saturday.

Ambedkar also refused to join Rahul Gandhi’s Mumbai rally later this month, saying it serves no purpose to attend the rally without alliance confirmation.

“We will not participate in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)’s Baramati rally (to be held today) and Rahul Gandhi’s Mumbai rally (to be held on March 17) because until we establish coordination with them or join the MVA, attending any such MVA rally serves no purpose…,” he said.

Ambedkar revealed that the MVA alliance partners could not build consensus on 15 of the 48 seats in Maharashtra.

“There are 10 seats where there is no coordination between Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) and Congress. There are 5 seats which are being demanded by NCP (Sharad Pawar), Congress and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray). So in total, there are 15 seats out of 48 in which they do not have coordination and because of this lack of coordination, I think their talks (on seat sharing) are not going ahead,” he said

Commenting on the lack of coordination between the Maharashtra allies of Opposition’s INDIA alliance, the VBA chief said, “We go to the meeting, have coffee and biscuits and request them to coordinate with each other so that we can put forward our demands.”
