Pradyuman murder: Suspended Ryan school principal joins another branch

Former acting-principal of Ryan International school Neerja Batra, who was suspended after a seven-year-old student was found dead with his throat-slit in the school premises, has been appointed as a teacher in another school in Gurugram.

Batra has been reappointed as a teacher in another branch of the Ryan International School in Gurugram, Sector 40.

According to media reports, parents of students attending school branch in Sector 40 have reportedly protested her appointment. The principal of the, Sector 40, school branch has assured the parents that, Batra has not been hired for teaching in school.

Batra has been working with the Ryan group for 20 years, said media reports.

“If parents have issues they should speak to the school management. Now, it is the school management’s prerogative to retain her in the branch or post her to another. It’s up to the sector 40 school management how to utilise her services,” said Vinay Pratap Singh, Gurgaon deputy commissioner, who is in charge of the school administration for three months by a government order.

The Ryans International School in Bhondsi was reopened on September 25, 17 days after it was closed in connection with Pradyuman Thakur’s murder.

On September 8, Class 2 student, Pradyuman, was found with his throat slit near the school bathroom, moments after being dropped at the school by his father.

Gurgaon police had arrested the one of the school bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, in connection with the murder case. The post-mortem report of seven-year-old Pradyuman has ruled out sexual assault.

On September 28, the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted them anticipatory bail despite opposition by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Putting a stay on their arrest, the court granted them relief till 7 October.
