The BJP-led Mahayuti stormed back to power in Maharashtra with a historic landslide that saw it on course to get over 230 seats in the 288-member Assembly
The first phase includes Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor,Nagina(SC), Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit seats, all in western UP.
Election Commission of India launched the Lok Sabha poll process in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday with the issuance of notification for the first phase of polling in 8 seats, slated on April 19.
State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said the election notification for eight Lok Sabha seats of the first phase have been issued and with this, the process of nomination has started in these constituencies.
Nominations can be made between 11 am to 3 pm.

The first phase includes Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor,Nagina(SC), Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit seats, all in western UP.
The CEO said the last date for filing nominations for these seats is March 27.
Scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 28 and the last date for withdrawals is March 30.
In the first phase, there are a total of 1.43 crore voters including 76.23 lakh men, 67.14 lakh women and 824 are of the third gender.
There are a total of 7,693 polling stations and 14,842 polling booths in the first phase.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that general category candidates will have to deposit Rs 25,000 and SC-ST category candidates will have to deposit Rs 12,500 along with the nomination papers.
Candidates of national and state level parties will require one voter from the constituency as proposer and registered unrecognised political parties and independent candidates will require 10 proposers.
During the nomination process, a candidate is allowed to reach the returning officer ( RO) office in just three vehicles while five people will be allowed along with the candidate inside the office.
