“The handbook deals with rules regarding opinion polls, exit polls, pre-certification of ads and paid news etc,” an official of the Election Commission of India said.
The Election Commission (EC) has issued a revised handbook on media matters to the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and District Election Officers (DEOs), to sensitise its officials on the Lok Sabha (LS) elections.
“The handbook deals with rules regarding opinion polls, exit polls, pre-certification of ads and paid news etc,” an official of the panel said on Tuesday.
The official added though primarily the handbook is meant for CEOs and DEOs, it would also be useful for the journalist covering the polls. “This handbook is an effort to present a comprehensive guide on the instructions and guidelines issued by the Commission on various critical issues related to the media matters and its functioning during the elections,” read the message of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in the handbook.
