Punjab: Five veterinary officers dismissed
In a bold move to address negligence and absenteeism, Punjab Animal Husbandry Department on Thursday terminated the services of five veterinary officers with immediate effect.
The police officer was caught in a trap, laid by the vigilance department where he accepted Rs 3,000 as graft.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested a police officer in the Kotkapura city of Faridkot district on graft charge on Thursday .
According to a spokesperson, the Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), Harpreet Singh, was caught red handed as he was accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe from one Munish Pathak, a resident of Kotkapura.
The complainant has approached the vigilence department alleging that the ASI has demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe for a mutual agreement with a complainant.

The accused police officer had already taken Rs 2,000 as advance of the graft amount. He asked for more money from the complainant for a mutual pact.
The complainant has recorded the conversation as a proof and lodged an online complaint at the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption helpline.
The vigilence department laid a trap where the ASI was nabbed red handed in full view of two official witnesses.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the ASI at the VB police station in Ferozepur.
