The news of Prime Minister Narendra Modi featuring in an episode of Man vs Wild on Discovery Channel has taken the social media platform, Twitter by a storm.

It all started with a tweet by the show host and adventurer Edward Michael Grylls on July 29 that viewers across the globe will get to see PM Modi in the August 12 episode of Man vs Wild, the popular television programme on Discovery Channel.

The hashtag #PMModiOnDiscovery has won the Twitter world in just two days. With over 1.2 billion impressions on Twitter, #PMModiOnDiscovery is said to be one of the most used hashtags on Twitter to promote a television show ever.

In a span of less than 12 hours since the tweet first made an appearance, the hashtag reached 728 million people through over 2,04,200 mentions by more than 2,06,200 users as per the data from global media intelligence firm Meltwater.

#PMModiOnDiscovery was the top trend in India on the day of the announcement. The trend also made waves globally entering the elite top three trends.

The programme, aimed at creating awareness about animal conservation and environmental change, will be aired at 9 pm on August 12.

PM Modi will be seen alongside host Bear Grylls learning the tricks of survival in the untamed wilderness.

The programme can be seen by viewers in 180 countries.

“People across 180 countries will get to see the unknown side of PM @narendramodi as he ventures into Indian wilderness to create awareness about animal conservation & environmental change,” tweeted a super-excited Grylls.

He also shared a clip featuring the promos of the much-awaited episode wherein Modi and Grylls are seen undertaking “an epic adventure of a lifetime”.

On the previous day, Bear Grylls had tweeted that he would be making a big announcement on Monday adding that the show would get to take “one of the world’s most powerful leaders into the wild”.
