Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the first Hindu temple via video conferencing from the Dubai Opera House.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on the second leg of his three-nation tour, arrived in Abu Dhabi from Jordan on Saturday. This is PM Modi’s second visit to UAE, he had earlier visited the nation in August 2015.

The Prime Minister thanked Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al NahyanUAE on behalf of 125-crore Indians for the grand temple which will be constructed.
While addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “I believe this temple will not be only unique in terms of architecture and splendour, but will also give a message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ to people across the world”.
On UAE-India ties, PM Modi said that the relations between the countries is much more “beyond a buyer and seller” relation.
PM Modi also spoke on India’s position in world as an economic power, saying, “India’s leap in World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Rankings from 142 to 100 is unprecedented. But we are not satisfied at this, we want to do better and added we will do whatever it takes to make it possible”.
The first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi will come up on 55,000 square metres of land and Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) will manage the temple.
According to media reports, the UAE has two Hindu temples which are located in Dubai. Devotees from Abu Dhabi and other emirates have to drive to Dubai for prayers and offerings.
The temple, expected to be completed by 2020, will be built at Abu Mureikhah, off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Highway, and will incorporate all aspects and features of a traditional Hindu temple.
