Modi will also address a public rally in Dharamshala in Kangra district and would interact with the beneficiaries of various government schemes on the occasion.

Modi’s visit to Kangra would be the first in 46 years when a Prime Minister had held a rally or participated in public meeting and the event would be the second in Kangra which has been attended by a PM.

Earlier, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had visited Dharamshala in 1972 and it was largely attended by Tibetans, residing in Mcleodganj and its surrounding areas.

Modi’s visit would also blow bugle for Lok Sabha elections in Himachal and it remains to be seen as to what kind of announcements Modi would make for the state ahead of the polls.

Though the party cadre is quite happy over PM’s visit but there would be many anxious moments for party leaders who are vying for ticket for LS polls from Kangra as the sitting MP Shanta Kumar had shown unwillingness in contesting elections.

PM Modi’s visit would help the party in retaining all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh and would further boost party’s electoral prospects, state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti told The Statesman.

Satti said PM Modi has special connect for the people of the state as he was the state incharge since 1996 and had visited all areas across the state, especially Dharamshala, Palampur and Nurpur in Kangra district.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur along with cabinet colleagues and party office bearers is camping in Dharamshala since the last two days and they are making efforts to make the rally, termed as Jan Aabhar Rally to be historic event.

The Kangra district administration is making adequate and proper security arrangements for smooth plying of vehicles on the rally day to ensure that the general public does no face inconvenience.

The party is expecting huge turnout for the rally and they are putting up exhibitions by different departments for public.

It is being ensured that the exhibitions are not only informative but they should also be displayed in attractive manner.

The government officials are also making it sure that beneficiaries of various welfare schemes with whom PM Modi would interact, should not face any inconvenience to reach rally site.

In addition, LCD/LED screens are being installed at strategic places and also in the rally ground for best view of the rally to the visitors.
