Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 68 on Monday, is going to celebrate his birthday in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
The Prime Minister will reach Varanasi for a two-day visit on Monday afternoon.

On the occasion of his birthday, PM Modi will visit Narur village, where he will interact with children of a primary school, aided by non-profit organisation “Room to Read”. PM Modi will watch a film based on his life with the schoolchildren.
Later, he will interact with students of Kashi Vidyapeeth and children assisted by them on the premises of Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW).
President Ram Nath Kovind extended his greeting to PM Modi and tweeted, “Birthday greetings to our Prime Minister @narendramodi. Wish him a long life and many years of dedicated service to the people of the country #PresidentKovind.”
Home Minister Rajnath Singh also took to Twitter and wished the prime minister.
“Warm greetings to Shri @narendramodi on his birthday. Under his leadership India has grown tremendously and became the 6th largest economy of the world. He is a man of vision and action who is working assiduously to fulfil the dream of New India. I wish him good health &long life,” he tweeted.
On Tuesday, Modi will inaugurate or lay the foundation of various development projects, cumulatively worth more than Rs 500 crore, according to a statement by the prime minister’s office (PMO). The event will be held at the amphitheatre of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
Among the projects to be inaugurated by Modi are Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for Puraani Kashi and an Atal Incubation Centre at BHU.
Among the projects for which the foundation stones will be laid is the Regional Ophthalmology Centre at BHU. The prime minister will also address a gathering, the statement said.
Narendra Damodardas Modi was sworn in as the prime minister of the country in 2014 after his party BJP recorded a thumping victory in the general election. He is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi.
He served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.
PM Modi was born on 17 September 1950 to a family of grocers in Vadnagar, Mehsana district, Gujarat.
During his childhood, Modi is known to have helped his father sell tea at the Vadnagar railway station before running his own tea stall with his brother near a bus terminus.
In the year 1967, Modi completed his higher secondary education in Vadnagar.
Modi’s political career took a major turn in 2001. The health of the then chief minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel began to deteriorate the BJP lost a few state assembly seats in by-elections.
Following the political turmoil in the state, Modi was selected as the new chief minister of Gujarat by the BJP national leadership. It was on 3 October 2001 when Modi replaced Patel as Gujarat CM and he took the oath of the office on 7 October 2001.
On 24 February 2002, Modi won the by-election to the Rajkot – II constituency.
