In his first rally in Chhattisgarh since the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) loss in assembly elections held in December 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the ruling Congress and the Opposition parties over a host of issues including the formation of mahagathbandhan (grand alliance).
“When new Govt was formed in Chhattisgarh, we also congratulated them that maybe they will implement some new approach for the development of the state. But what they have only done is try to stop the ongoing schemes,” the PM said on Friday while addressing a public event in Raipur.

“The first decision that the Congress government too was to remove Chhattisgarh from ‘Modicare’ and second decision was to not let the CBI enter the state. Why? What are you afraid of?” he said.
“If one is indeed innocent, will they be afraid of probe? Can any investigative agency launch a probe without reason?” the PM said hitting at the Opposition parties who had joined West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in criticism of the attempt by the CBI to question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in connection with ponzi scam cases.
Calling the grand alliance a ‘mahamilavat’ (grand adulteration), the PM said, “Those joining the mahagathbandhan across the country had once left the Congress after abusing it. They are now competing on who can abuse Modi more. This is the eligibility criteria for the Mahamilavat.”
Taking a jibe at the Gandhi family, the PM said that almost every member of the ‘dynasty’ is facing cases in courts and most are out on bail.
“There are cases in various courts against almost every member of namdaars in the Congress. The situation is such that most of the members are either out on bail or have taken interim bail,” the PM said.
Modi’s comment came two days after Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi and husband of Priyanka Gandhi, appeared for questioning before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.

Urging the people to again bring the BJP to power at the Centre in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the PM highlighted the various schemes and policies launched by his government for the uplift of the poor and marginalised.
The PM will also be addressing a rally in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri later today where he is expected to launch a frontal attack on Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress government in the state.
