Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and top leaders and MPs of different parties today attended a lunch where millet dishes were served.
“As we prepare to mark 2023 as the International Year of Millets, we attended a sumptuous lunch in Parliament where millet dishes were served. Good to see participation from across party lines,” Modi tweeted later and shared some pictures of the lunch at the Parliament House.
Sharing the table with Modi were the vice president, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Congress President and leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.
The luncheon gathering took place shortly after members from the treasury benches and the Opposition parties exchanged barbs in the Upper House over Kharge’s remarks on the BJP at a rally yesterday.
Several Union ministers and Opposition stalwarts also attended the lunch.
