There is a long list of legislations due to be brought before Parliament for approval. Among them are three which seek to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Criminal Procedure Code and the Evidence Act.
The Lok Sabha will also take note of its Ethics Committee’s recommendation for expulsion of Trinamul Congress MP Mahua Moitra after hearing into allegations of cash-for-query against her.
The session is expected to be stormy as it will come just after results of Assembly elections in States Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram on 3 December.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers took place just as rescue of the trapped workers in the Silkyara tunnel reached its final stage and workers started coming out of the collapsed tunnel.
