Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined a bevy of eminent personalities who wished President Ram Nath Kovind on his birthday on Monday, 1 October.

The President, who turned 73 today, was born in 1945 in a village called Paraukh which is located in Kanpur.

“Best wishes to Rashtrapati Ji on his birthday. India has benefitted greatly from his wisdom and perspectives on various subjects. He has connected wonderfully with every section of our society. I pray for his long and healthy life,” wrote the PM on Twitter.

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu said, “An epitome of nobility in public life and a source of inspiration to millions of Indians, Birthday wishes to Rashtrapathi, Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji. I wish him a long and healthy life. @rashtrapatibhvn #PresidentKovind.”

 

Former President Pranab Mukherjee prayed for a long and healthy life for his successor.

“My Good Wishes to President Kovind @rashtrapatibhvn on his Birthday. May God bless you with long and healthy life and many more years of service to the Republic, #CitizenMukherjee,” wrote Mukherjee on Twitter.

 

UP CM Yogi Adityanath wished for a long life for the President in a tweet posted in Hindi.

 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, too, posted a tweet wishing the President on his birthday.

“Conveying my respects and good wishes to Ram Nath Kovind ji (@rashtrapatibhvn) on his birthday,” she wrote.

 

Hima Das, sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik, and actor Riteish Deshmukh were among the many prominent personalities who wished the President on Twitter.

 

Earlier today, the President joined PM Modi in according a ceremonial welcome to visiting Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Kovind became the 14th President of India on 25 July 2017. He had previously served as the Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 and was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006.

He practised as a lawyer for 16 years at the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court before entering politics.
