PM Modi arrives in Surat, to launch development projects in Daman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday arrived in Surat, Gujarat to flag off a night marathon and launch development projects in Daman, officials said.

According to officials, Modi will visit Daman in Union territory of Daman and Diu to inaugurate projects worth Rs.1,000 crore.

“He (Modi) will lay the foundation stones for projects including a water treatment plant, a gas pipeline, an electric sub-station among others,” said SS Yadav, Adviser to Administrator of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Apart from handing over certificates to beneficiaries of various official schemes, Modi will inaugurate anganwadis and schools, distribute e-rickshaws to women and scooters to differently-abled beneficiaries.

He will also launch a helicopter service between Daman and Diu, and an Air Odisha flight service connecting Ahmedabad with Diu.

He will conclude his visit by addressing a public meeting.

On Sunday, Modi will flag off a night marathon ‘Run for New India’ in Surat.

The marathon will be held in four categories – 42.2 km (full marathon), 21.1 km (half marathon), and 10-km and 5-km fun run.
