Campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana’s Nizamabad on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of ignoring development of the region.
The PM also took a dig at Rao saying that the CM believes that he can win elections without doing anything just like the Congress did for 50 years.

“The Congress has not done any development in the country, yet they kept winning elections. So the CM believes that if Congress can win like this, he too can (by not doing anything),” Modi told a huge gathering of BJP supporters.
“The CM should note that time has changed. No political party can be re-elected without doing anything for the people,” Modi said.
Speaking in Hindi, the PM said that the people should ask for the details of every penny spent by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government.
“They have failed to fulfil their promises of rapid development to the youth and the Adivasis. The people should teach them a lesson in this election,” the PM said amid slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’.
The PM also targeted CM Rao over the lack of development in the region.
“He (Rao) used to say that he will make Nizamabad London. But people of Nizamabad are still eagerly awaiting better roads, water, electricity,” Modi said, adding, “In the name of underground drainage system, are they damaging the city?”
Modi also blamed Rao for Telangana failing to benefit from the Ayushmaan Bharat campaign.
“Ayushmaan Bharat was launched two months ago. Three lakh families have availed its benefits. Serious operations have been done; people’s lives have been saved. Yet not a single person from Telangana availed its benefits. Your CM is responsible for it,” he said.
“Congress as well as TRS, both the parties believe in dynastic politics. They are two sides of same coin. Both parties appease the minority. Both parties believe in vote-bank politics. None of them have internal democracy,” said Modi.
Pointing at the gathering, the PM said that he has seen immense enthusiasm of people wherever in the five poll-bound states he has had the opportunity to visit.
“Those who believe in development, in forming a new Telangana, a new India, are placing their trust in BJP to take nation forward,” he said.
Elections in Telangana will be held on 7 December. The BJP, which is not a major power in Telangana, is up against the ruling TRS and the ‘Maha Kootami’ (Grand Alliance) formed by the Congress, Telangana Jana Samiti, Telugu Desam Party and the Communist Party of India.
