Launching a broadside against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said he was acting like a traffic constable and directing all criticism against his government to the UPA I and II reign of the past.
Demanding that the Centre should form a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) over the Adani fiasco, she accused the prime minister of taking refuge behind rhetoric, nationalism and satirical takes against the Opposition in his reply to the debate on motion of thanks on President’s address in the Parliament.
Kavitha’s attack on the prime minister came on a day when the CBI arrested her former chartered accountant (CA) Butchibabu Gorantla in connection with the liquor scam. Kavitha has been accused of being part of the liquor cartel of South.
She said the speech was disappointing since he neither named Adani nor did he refer to the banks or LIC‘s exposure to the Adani group, but concentrated on “heckling” the Opposition.
“BRS party has been constantly demanding that kindly form a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and probe the issue. If you are clean Modiji if you are not corrupt as you have claimed… or a special investigation committee with a sitting Supreme Court judge doodh ka doodh ka pani ka pani hoye jayega (that will clear up every accusation),” said Kavitha.
“What is the plan of the government to bail out these banks? Will you bail out Adaniji just like you did for your other friends by waiving off Rs11 lakh crore of their loans,” she asked, adding, “Prime Minister always does the job of a traffic constable. He always diverts criticism to some other side,” she went on to add pointing out that he is walking on the same path as the UPA.
She went on to accuse the prime minister of speaking white lies in Parliament alleging that the number of farmers who are availing PM Kisan yojana has come down to three lakhs but Mr Modi said 11 lakh farmers were availing the input subsidy scheme.
