Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the CPI (M) and the Congress party in Tripura, accusing the alliance partners of taking the development process of the state backwards.
Addressing an election rally at Ambassa in Dhalai district, he said that Tripura has been put on the fast track of development with the double-engine government. The BJP has freed the state of fear, he said.
The Prime Minister said the identity of Tripura is not violence or backwardness anymore. Flags of all political parties are seen in the State during the current assembly election. Five years back, he said, this was not possible and only the flag of only one party was seen, and that was of the CPI (M).
The Prime Minister said that by implementing the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, salaries of lakhs of employees of the state government had increased. Earlier only CPI (M) workers reaped the benefit. He rued that earlier people could reach police stations with great difficulty but in the BJP government, there is a rule of law in the State.
During violence, girls and women were subjected to a lot of atrocities in the State but now they are being empowered and their life has been made easier, he said.
Earlier Dhalia was among the backward districts but the BJP has made it an aspirational district, he said. It is now in second place in the list of aspirational districts out of the 110 districts in the country, Mr Modi said. The PM thanked the authorities and government for serving the people of Dhalai.
He thanked the present Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha for giving a good manifesto. He appealed to the people of Tripura to vote for the BJP and alliance partners as it will keep the CPI (M) at bay from power. He said during the last election he had promised to give HIRA which means Highway, Internet, Railway and Airway.
Efforts are on to lay optical fibre network in each and every village of Tripura. Tripura has become global as it is connecting with the outside world in an unprecedented way, he said.
The government is trying to connect Tripura and Northeast through waterways, roadways and rail network. He said an international flight service will soon take off from the Agartala airport.
Tripura is moving towards becoming the gateway of South East Asia, he said. The Chief Minister was talking about the Act East policy which will give an impetus to the economy of the state. Tripura has the blessings of Maa Tripura Sundari.  Mr Modi said the PM Awas Yojana has changed the lives of people in Tripura.
In the last five years, he asserted that the BJP government has provided around three lakh pucca houses to the poor under the PM Aawas Yojana.
The Prime Minister said under the misrule of CPI (M) and Congress, people of the state were under pain. If anybody fell ill there were no proper hospitals and no money to spend on the treatment. The BJP government was sensitive to the pain which people suffered, he added. More than two lakh poor people took benefit through the Ayushman yojana in Tripura, he added.
