A rectification document approved by the CPI-M’s Kerala State Committee says that there are comrades who think that it is their right to arrange jobs for their relatives and friends.

There is a feeling that the party leaders have usurped the jobs deserved by other candidates. This leads to estrangement between the party and the people, the document says.

The section titled “Urgent duties to be undertaken in the field of organization” in the document begins with a reminder that if the organizational and political reforms are not done in time, the revolutionary nature of the party will be lost.

Once in power, the attitude of getting everything that can be obtained with it takes root within the party, it has been stated in the rectification document.

“There are some comrades who take it as a right to buy and give jobs to their relatives and friends when they reach a position of responsibility. This causes huge problems in every region. Creating a feeling that the leaders have usurped the jobs that deserve to other people, is not good for the party! It leads to alienation between the party and the people, the document says.

Some of the members of the party are adopting various measures to amass wealth within a short period of party activities, the document says.

Stating that the issue of party members amassing immense wealth has become a matter of discussion within the party, the document says that the party units have been instructed to adopt an uncompromising stance against corruption.

It also asks party units that those party functionaries and workers who make money through illegal means should be brought under scrutiny and action should be taken against them.

The rectification document also says that the desire for money, power and position among the party workers should not be encouraged. The rectification document further says that the comrades should be freed from the desire to gain positions.

There are not few people who think that it is the responsibility of the party to provide employment after working in the party and mass organizations for some time. The document also makes it clear that every party worker has the responsibility to reverse such trends and nurture a new generation of committed cadres.
