The spiritual fervour of the 813th Urs at the Dargah of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti reached its peak on Tuesday. A visiting delegation (Jatha) of pilgrims (zayreens) from Pakistan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and other prominent leaders offered ceremonial Chadars at the sacred tomb of Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz.
The 91-member Jatha from Pakistan arrived early Tuesday morning on the Chetak Express. Under tight security, the group marched to Dargah Sharif later in the afternoon in a ceremonial procession, carrying bright red velvet Chadars while singing Qawwalis.

The Chadar on behalf of Chief Minister Sharma was brought by BJP State Minority Front President Hamid Khan Mewati. A large number of BJP leaders and workers joined him in escorting the Chadar to the Dargah Sharif in a procession.
After the offering, a message from the Chief Minister expressing goodwill and emphasizing peace, harmony, and brotherhood was read aloud to the public at Buland Darwaza.
Chadars were also offered on behalf of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
The Pakistani pilgrims are staying at the Central Girls’ School in Purani Mandi under comprehensive arrangements made by the police and district administration. The Jatha was accompanied by a protocol officer and two officials from the Pakistan High Commission in India.
This year’s Jatha, though smaller in number, reached Ajmer a day later than planned. The delegation is scheduled to leave Ajmer for Pakistan on the afternoon of January 10.
