Pakistan on Thursday said the terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, in which at least 44 paramilitary personnel were killed, is “a matter of grave concern” and strongly rejected allegations of the country’s link to the strike.

The attack in Pulwama in Kashmir is “a matter of grave concern”, the Pakistan government said in a statement.

Asserting that Pakistan has “always condemned acts of violence” anywhere in the world, it said, “We strongly reject any insinuation by elements in the Indian media and government that seek to link the attack to Pakistan without investigations.”

In a strongly-worded statement, India had slammed Pakistan over the terror attack carried about by Jaish-e-Mohammed and demanded that Islamabad stop supporting terrorists and dismantle terror infrastructure operating from its soil.

It further said the JeM has been given full freedom by the Pakistan government to operate and expand his terror infrastructure in territories under the control of Pakistan and to carry out attacks in India and elsewhere with impunity.

The MEA further reiterated its appeal to the members of international community to support the proposal to list terrorists, including JeM Chief, Masood Azhar as a designated terrorist under 1267 Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council and ban terror organisations operating from territories controlled by Pakistan.

At least 44 CRPF jawans were killed and nearly 45 seriously injured in the deadliest attack in decades on security forces, when an explosive-laden car rammed into a bus they were travelling in. The terror strike took place near Letapora of Pulwama in South Kashmir.

Meanwhile, American experts have said that the involvement of terror group JeM in Thursday’s attack has raised serious questions about the role and involvement of Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence or ISI in the terror attack.
