Manmohan Singh was born on September 26, 1932. Apart from being an economist, Manmohan Singh served as Reserve Bank of India governor from 1982-1985. He was the 13th PM of India with his tenure from 2004-2014 and was the longest-serving PM after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who passed away on Thursday evening. She said that Dr Singh made critical contributions to reforming the Indian economy and will be remembered for his service to the nation.

The deceased has been identified as Rajan Das alias Bengali and the three accused as Sachin Kavander, Sada Kavander and Bhavesh Salve, according to the police.

The deceased's elder brother Sonu, aged 31 years, is in jail for the last six years and is associated with the Tillu gang, the police said.
