Security forces gunned down a terrorist in Jammu-Kashmir’s Bandipora district early in the morning of Thursday, 1 March.
Reports say that a gunfight, which is currently on, started when security forces launched a search operation in village Shakurdin in Hajin area of Bandipora.
Police said that they had information that terrorists were hiding in the village following which they cordoned off the area.
As they closed in on the terrorists, the latter fired at the security forces triggering the encounter, a police officer said.
“One militant has been killed in the encounter so far. The firing exchanges are still going on,” he added.
A Pakistani national belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in the same area during a gun battle two days back.
