The Odisha Police, which is currently probing into the ‘mysterious’ death of two Russian nationals including a lawmaker Pavel Antov, on Sunday ruled out any foul play in their deaths.

“The investigation done so far has not found any foul play in the case. A group of officers of the Crime Branch and Criminal Investigation Department having expertise to deal with such sensitive cases are probing the case in the most transparent way. All angles are being looked into. However, they have not come across any foul play,” said Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal.

A Russian tourist Pavel Antov, a business tycoon and critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died after falling from the third floor of a hotel at Rayagada town on December 24, two days after his fellow traveller Vladimir Bidenov was found dead there.

Vladimir and Pavel were part of a four-member group of Russian tourists who along with their guide Jitendra Singh had checked into the hotel in Rayagada town.

The CID of Odisha Police yesterday seized burnt remnants of two Russian nationals including a lawmaker from the cremation ground at Rayagada for forensic examination as a part of its probe into the mystery over their deaths.
