Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will on Thursday take a break from his Gujarat visit to meet the families of the victims of the NTPC boiler explosion which left at least 22 people dead and over 100 injured.
The Gandhi scion will resume his election campaigning in poll bound Gujarat on Thursday afternoon.

“Due to the unfortunate NTPC accident, I will visit Rae Bareli tomorrow morning. Will join Gujarat Navsarjan Yatra in the afternoon,” he said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Rae Bareli is the parliamentary constituency of his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Due to ill health, Sonia won’t be able to visit her constituency, party leaders said.
On Wednesday, the Congress president expressed shock and horror at the tragedy and asked party workers to help in the relief operations.
The death toll in a boiler explosion at a unit of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli district has risen to 22 with over 100 people injured, reports said.
Many of the injured are in critical condition with scalded body parts caused by hot ash and steam. They have been admitted to government medical facilities at Allahabad and at the Lucknow trauma centre.
Officials have said that the death toll could climb up as many of the injured are in critical condition.
