Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Saturday, hailed security forces guarding India’s border with China and said he was not worried since Indian troops would not let go of even an inch of the country’s land.

Speaking at an event in Devanahalli in Bengaluru, he was all praise for the security forces who were guarding the borders under imaginable conditions along the Line of Actual Control, where temperatures regularly drop to as low as 42 degrees Celsius.

The home minister was on a two-day visit to Karnataka where he laid the foundation stone of the Central Intelligence Training Institute and inaugurated the Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s (ITBP) residential and non-residential complexes.

“I’m not worried about the India-China border as I know that our ITBP personnel are guarding there”, Shah said. “And because of this, no one can occupy even an inch of India’s land. People have nicknamed ITBP jawans ‘Himveers’ which I think is bigger than Padma Shri, Padma Vibhushan”, he added.

Shah said the ITBP, since its establishment, has performed very well in the most difficult of areas. ”Every state that I have visited, be it Arunachal, Kashmir or Ladakh, everywhere they are called ‘Himveers’,” he added.

He said the government was planning to provide 100 days for the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel to spend time with their families at their headquarters. ”This is necessary from the human point of view,” he added.
