Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal missed the crucial NITI Aayog meet on Sunday as his sit-in along with four of his Cabinet colleagues – Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai – at LG Anil Baijal’s office entered the seventh day.

Earlier, there were reports that Delhi LG will represent the national capital in the Niti Ayog meeting following the absence of the chief minister. Reacting to the reports, Kejriwal took to Twitter and wrote, “Under which provision of the Constitution does LG have powers to replace the Chief Minister? I have not authorised him to go in my place.”

The report of LG replacing Kejriwal in the meet was, however, quashed by the CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant.

“This is totally incorrect. Lt. Governor of Delhi is not present at the Fourth Meeting of the Govening Council of NITI Aayog,” Kant tweeted.

Meanwhile, the fourth meeting of Niti Aayog’s Governing Council began in New Delhi on Sunday with main agenda of deliberating upon measures taken to double farmers’ income and the progress of government’s flagship schemes.

The meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Governing Council is expected to take up issues such as measures taken to double farmers’ income, progress made by flagship schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, National Nutrition Mission, and Mission Indradhanush and development of aspirational districts.

It will also take stock of the work done during the previous year and deliberate upon development agenda for ‘New India 2022’.
