Union minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday urged Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to take action in the alleged ragging of some students at the NIT in Agartala, where a student from Arunachal Pradesh was reportedly injured.
Rijiju telephoned the Tripura chief minister and DGP A K Shukla and asked them to do the needful on the “violent incident of ragging”.

“The violent incident of Ragging at NIT, Agartala is very unfortunate. I spoke to CM @BjpBiplab ji and DGP Tripura. The Police is taking appropriate actions (sic), Rijiju tweeted.

As per reports from Agartala, a student from Arunachal Pradesh and a few other first-year students were allegedly beaten up in the name of ragging at NIT, Agartala.
Reports said that the police initially did not file a complaint, but later registered an FIR following the intervention of Tripura’s royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debburman and protests by people.
