The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday carried out searches at 16 locations in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi in connection with a probe against a new ISIS module styled as ‘Harkat ul Harb e Islam’.
The searches started at different locations early morning and were still underway, an official said, refusing to divulge any further details.

According to an ANI alert, five people have been arrested in UP’s Amroha in a joint operation of the Uttar Pradesh ATS and the NIA.
Earlier in April, the Lok Sabha was informed that the NIA has probed 23 cases related to dreaded terror group ISIS in which 81 people were arrested and 39 are absconding.
In December 2017, the Ministry of Home Affairs had informed that the NIA along with state security agencies had arrested 103 accused in cases against ISIS cadres or sympathisers with the maximum number of people being arrested from Uttar Pradesh.
According to the MHA report, Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 17 arrests followed by Maharashtra and Telangana 16 and Kerala 14.
So far, only one arrest had been made from Delhi.
“National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Security Agencies registered cases against ISIS cadres/sympathizers and arrested 103 accused in these cases — Uttar Pradesh-17, Maharashtra-16, Telangana-16, Kerala-14, Karnataka-08, Madhya Pradesh-06, Tamil Nadu-05, West Bengal-05, Uttrakhand-04, Rajasthan-04, Gujarat-04, Bihar-02, Delhi-01, Jammu & Kashmir-01,” said MoS home affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir.
The government also informed that very few individuals have come to notice of the Central and State Security Agencies who have joined ISIS.
