The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is organising “G20 Flower Festival” at Central Park, Connaught Place on March 11 and 12. The objective is to showcase the vibrancy and colourful display of G20 member and guest countries.
The Connaught Place in New Delhi is a major tourist and commercial attraction of the city where a large number of tourists and citizens visit every day. The flower festival is an opportunity for publicity and awareness amongst the general public about G20 members and guest countries.
Flowers of different colours and varieties will be displayed in the different forms and installations. NDMC will be displaying different flower plants showcasing the diversity of the Indian sub-continent.
All the G20 member countries and guest countries are invited to participate in the flower festival. NDMC will provide required space to all the participating G20 member countries and guest countries for the flower festival.
The G20 member countries and guest countries will bring flower plants and any other plants to display during the flower festival. The flower plants and any other plants may showcase various varieties of potted plants either locally produced or of their home country.
The flower festival will also witness participation from various Government Departments, civic agencies, leading nurseries, suppliers of horticulture equipment, seeds, fertilizers, etc. A large variety of seasonal and exclusive flora would be at display.
The festival will also showcase the painting or photographs of flowers such as national flowers or major flower gardens of G20 member countries and guest countries during the flower festival.
Apart from G20 member countries and guest countries, the NDMC has also invited the various Government Departments like CPWD, PWD, MCD, DDA, Jal Board, Noida and Ghaziabad authority, ICAR and State Bhawans and Houses in New Delhi.
The flower show will be an important festival for horticulture enthusiasts. Different sections of colorful and vibrant flowers like Dahlias, Bougainvillea, foliage plants, Bonsai, Cactus and Succulents in potted plants, Hanging Baskets, Floral figures and boards, Tray Garden, Floral Arrangements etc. will be displayed in different forms which shows the diversity of Indian subcontinent.
The timings of the festival will be from 10 am to 7 pm. The entry will be free for the general public and will be from the gate opposite to D Block. The public can also purchase their favorite plants, flowers, etc., from various stalls. NDMC will also arrange musical and cultural programmes at the Central Park Amphitheatre.
