Navratri, Gudi Padwa, Sajibu Cheiraoba, Ugadi geetings flood Twitter

Indian politicians, sportspersons, film personalities across India on Sunday wished the nation on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri 2018, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Sajibu Cheiraoba.

Today (March 18) is the first day of Chaitra Navratri, which coincides with the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2075.

While Chaitra Navratri is mostly celebrated in north India, the day marks the festivals of Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra.

In Manipur, people following the Sanamahism religion celebrate Sajibu Cheiraoba, also called Meetei Cheiraoba and Sajibu Nongma Pānba, on this day.

In Manipuri, Sajibu is the first month of the year according to the Meitei lunar calendar. While Sajibu usually comes in April, the month has started early this year.

President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter to greet the entire nation and said “May these festivals bring happiness & strengthen the bonds of fraternity among people in various regions of our country “.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of the country on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri 2018, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2075 — the Hindu new year.

He also wished the people of Manipur celebrating the lunar new year festival of Sajibu Cheiraoba.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also tweeted his greeting to the nation, while saying “May God bring happiness, peace and prosperity in their lives.”

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also gave his greeting on the “auspicious occasions” of Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Sajibu Cheiraoba and Navratri.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on the festive occasion said, “Let us also on this day pledge ourselves to ushering in a new era of peace and harmony to pave the way for a better tomorrow for our future generations.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee  took to Twitter saying, “Happy Ugadi, Happy Sajibu Cheiraoba and Happy Gudi Padwa to all those who are celebrating” and “Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri”.

CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury gave his best wishes “to people across the country “.

Rajya Sabha member and AIFF president Praful Patel wished the nation on the occasion of Gudi Padva, Ugadi and Navratri.

Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra also greeted the nation with their wishes.

On this very auspicious day, I wish everyone a year of fulfilment, abundance, love and happiness! Happy Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand and Ugadi!
